What is THE PROMiSE?
THE PROMiSE is a church that is the center of community life by ministering to whole families by providing a variety of resources as we work toward more fully realizing a contemporary version of the church described in the Second Chapter of the Book of Acts in the Bible - believers gathering and holding things in common, in today's context.
We are a group of followers of Jesus Christ who are committed to live out our faith in the real world. We are compelled to tell the most incredibly Good News of all time: "You matter to God, you really are precious, and you are so loved that God Himself came to show you the way to real life!"
We are a church of excited persons who have redefined "Church" not as a one-hour, once-a-week quota to be met, but as a radical call to a twenty-four hour, seven day a week lifestyle to be experienced; where nurture and accountability combine to produce unparalleled spiritual growth in the life of the Christ-follower; from gatherings around serving in a soup kitchen for the homeless to gatherings on a golf course green, real friends who love each other lavishly, confront each other lovingly, and support each other undeniably. Faith is presented at THE PROMiSE in a way that brings people into daily "life" with Jesus. The phrase "Real Faith for Real Life!" reflects the attitude that directs every aspect of how church is "done." By offering the Gospel in creative ways that speak to the head and heart, THE PROMiSE helps persons do their dead-level best to walk hand-in-hand with Jesus in everyday living. This practical nature of faith is the hallmark of the teaching at THE PROMiSE.
At THE PROMiSE, we have only one rule - that there are no rules that artificially limit presenting the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ to every person. It is a place where we celebrate that we can say, "We've never done it that way before ... Let's try it!"

What about children?
THE PROMiSE is a church where children and youth are real persons who are encouraged to ask good questions, empowered to seek honest answers, and energized to claim true faith that will last forever; a church that helps parents instill lifelong positive values into their children, so they too will live into their own full, God-given potential.

What's next in my faith journey?

Jesus calls us into an ever-deepening relationship with Him. We understand faith as a continual journey. Therefore, faith is never static, but a constant movement forward. NextStep. is our process for helping persons move through one step of their faith to the next. Understanding that not everyone is at the same place in this journey, NextStep. is designed to offer a number of options to help you make your next step in faith. There steps include personal and family faith development, gifts discovery, various intellectual studies, and heart strengthening experiences.

What are FACE-OUT Groups?
FACE-OUT Groups are the small group ministry of THE PROMiSE. We are NOT a church with small groups, but we are a church of small groups. We feel strongly that the biblical model for the church described in the Book of Acts was indeed comprised of a collection of smaller groups. We see this face-to-face model continuing to be the most powerful place where lives are being transformed by God's continuing power today.
FACE-OUT Groups interact to strengthen the personal faith-walks of its participants by specifically addressing four personal faith growth areas:
F aithfulness
A ccountability
C ommitment
E ncouragement
An unusual aspect of small group ministry at THE PROMiSE is that in addition to meeting regularly, every FACE-OUT Group (including the Leadership Team) must be actively engaged in some work with persons not in their group. This is the " OUT " portion of the FACE-OUT name. It is outreach to others in the name of Jesus Christ. While there are wonderful social aspects of belonging to a small group, this intentional focus outward keeps the groups open and guards against becoming an ingrown social "club" committed only to its own members.

What about the permanent building, and future growth?
On December 19, 2004, we moved into our permanent building at 12648 E. 116th Street. Our vision for the future is additional buildings that will not only house worship, education, and administration space, but also space that ministers to the whole person with fitness areas, a whirlpool, a swimming pool, lockers with showers, limited overnight dorm-type accommodations, play areas, and an outdoor park full of green space emphasizing outdoor recreation and encouraging people to enjoy God's good creation.
We look forward to all that God will continue to do here at THE PROMiSE.
